First Date

Ann and I met on a blind date. She worked at Iowa Methodist Hospital with a gal that was dating my room mate, so we talked on the phone and decided to go out to Saylorville reservoir north of Des Moines, IA and grill some steaks and get acquainted. So I came up with this bright idea of loading my shiny new Weber grill in the back of the 1971 Bronco I had just rebuilt and painted. We went out to to the lake, grilled steaks and had a wonderful time getting to know each other. She was really cute, so I was trying to impress her so we could have a second date and maybe a third. We talked until after dark, then decided we should head back since she had to be at work at 5:30 am the next day. I loaded the grill and strapped it down, got the picnic basket and coolers in the bronco and we headed back to town. That Bronco rode like a lumber wagon. Then I hit a chuck hole in the road and the grill toppled over, and all of a sudden we were in a snow globe with ashes flying everywhere! She was covered from head to toe, and looked at me like I was some kind of idiot. Actually, I was. She still married me though and I'm grateful she did. Scott
